How Experiences and Associations In Our Youth Mold and Influence the Outcome of Our Lives

When I was a young boy, maybe 7 or 8 years old, I would have to fetch the cows to bring them to the barn to milk. It was always the same time every day. At that same time, almost every day, an event…

Battlefield 2042 Beta Impressions

That is the question. Is this the year where Battlefield finally dethrones Call of Duty? After playing all 3 of this year’s big First Person Shooter’s betas, I can honestly say that Battlefield may want to delay their game. Out of the 3 betas, Battlefield 2042 was last on my list. I am not saying that it was a bad game. What I am saying is that it still needs a lot of work and polish. With Halo Infinite’s multiplayer free to play and the campaign available on gamepass, it is hard to release a $70 game into the market with tons of bugs and issues. Even Call of Duty is struggling as of late but at least Warzone is free to play. Battlefield 2042, as of right now, still does not have a free part of it. Including the recently announced, new game mode called Hazard Zone which offers a Escape From Tarkov experience, is still locked behind that initial pay wall.

Battlefield 2042’s gunplay does not feel as impactful or as smooth as either of the two shooters but I did enjoy the new feature where you can edit and swap out attachments on the fly. That definitely adds to the immersion because you do not have to pause the game, it’s one button to pull up some options and you watch your player swap them out. Battlefield 2042 still offers that realistic gun play at least where you have to lead your target if they are on the move or account for bullet velocity if you are shooting from a distance. I am very optimistic, with some fine tuning, that Battlefield’s gunplay can become superb and very enjoyable like previous entries into the series such as Battlefield 4 or Battlefield Hardline.

Now as far as maps and visualls. We only got to play on one map. Orbital. Which is considered to be a medium size map. But with Battlefield 2042, there will be unique situations on all maps and on Orbital it has two. First of which is the rocket that is preparing to take off into space, but you can destroy it which will litter the map with debris everywhere which could alter the game very quickly. Secondly, the weather will randomly and progressively get worse over time and a tornado can spawn and comepleter swing the momentum in any game. The tornado can blow up the rocket, take out helicopters or planes or deviate you from your path to the next objective. I am very eager to see what Dice can come up with especially since they have confirmed there will be 13 maps at launch. As for visuals, Battlefield still stands tall when it comes to that. This game is stunning and I cannot wait to see the rest of this game and see if it becomes a generational masterpiece!

Overall, I am extremely hyped for this game. For a few reasons. One is the fact that this game is set in the near future and with Call of Duty going back to World War 2, this could be the game I play most as I am not a fan of World War 2 games anymore. And with this being set in the near future, it is a stark difference to the past two entries in the franchise, with Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V being set during the first two World Wars. One downfall that all Battlefield games have is the lack of Esports presence and that could impact how many players from Shoot 2 Win actually pick this game up and play it seriously or invest a lot of time into. Time can only tell but like I said, I am very optimistic for this game and can’t wait to dive into it on November 19!
