What has Islam Taught Me?

Islam is a spiritual ideology related to mindset. The idea is that thought is everything. Thought operates at the quantum level. And the highest thought is that thought that is aligned with the nature of the Universe. With nature itself. That is a ‘Godly’ thought. The ‘nature’ of the Universe represents as God or Allah itself. The nature of the universe is the nature of God itself. In Islam there is no contradiction between science and faith. Meaning that our thoughts are full of ‘noise’. Our mind is full of ‘self centeredness’. Which is the equivalent of not knowing. Because we truly don’t know as we did not create ourselves, nor have we created death. And the ‘knowingness’ is the truths of the Universe. And so the truths of the universe resign at the level of the abstraction of ourselves from the ‘what is’. It means neutrality. ‘God’ is in the space of neutrality. What is referred to as ‘surrender’. God is in the space of ‘surrender’. Our highest thoughts, our best thoughts are our most humble thoughts. The ones in which ‘we’, the ‘I’ are neutral.

Thought is ‘everything’. And ‘everything’ ties into the realm of quantum physics. ‘God’ is ‘Truth’. And truth can only be accessed in the space of where we can ‘take ourselves out of the way’. And that is the hardest thing. The ‘annihilation’ of the self. Self annihilation. It is the ‘eye of the needle’ through which we in our ‘big size’ have to ‘squeeze’. But mentally. In thought. Through thought. Through our cognizant and conscious thinking. It’s is the mental equivalent of committing ‘suicide’. The phenomenon is spiritual not physical. That although we see ourselves as ‘everything’. Truly we are ‘nothing’. And that is the most difficult thought for any human being to master. The holding of a singular thought that carries contradicting extremes. At the level of thought. And the level of quantum itself. We have to consciously develop thoughts that we are ‘nothing’ itself. And that is the hardest thing.

Being in the ‘surrendered state’. The egoless state. When you have surrendered and you are in an egoless state. Then you are in a ‘neutral’ space. You are in a ‘neutral state’. And in ‘neutrality’ is where God lies. Where Allah exists. Where ‘truth’ can be ‘felt’. What we call our ‘intuitive feel’. Of what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’. When we are present. In the space of ‘what is’. And when we are in that state. We ‘see’ the ‘right path’. There is ‘peace’. And that is what ‘Islam’ means. Islam is the Arabic word for ‘peace’. Or ‘the surrendering to Allah’s will through which you attain to ‘peace’. ‘Peace’ is in the space of the ‘what is’. ‘Peace’ is the space of ‘what is’.

It’s like when you ‘surrender’ you are the ‘surfer’, ‘surfing waves’. Riding waves. Balancing, no matter what waves life throws at you. You are even keeled and balanced. You are pitted in the wave. You are at peace. That is the goal that Islam tries to teach you. That is my journey. That is my understanding of Islam. And that is my goal. To be at peace. To be present. To be consigned to Allah’s or Nature’s or God’s or ‘The Higher Powers’ will. And so what Islam does is put in a ‘system’. Put in the tools and methodology to allow you to attain to that goal. To get into that ‘space’. And to get ‘above’ that ‘space’. To a ‘higher’ place. All at the same time as being here on planet earth. Whilst you are living your life on planet earth.

And one of the most fundamental acts or tools of accessing that space is the Muslim prayer. The act of the Muslim prayer. How a Muslim prays. What they pray. And the methodology of the prayer itself. In particular in fully comprehending and understand the first chapter of the Holy Quran. Which represents seven simple verses. And those who master prayer. Master an access point of ‘surrender’. It is not an easy thing. And it is a path for which we are all searching. Even muslims themselves. To be born a Muslim does not automatically make you a Muslim on the path that I have elucidated to. It requires struggle, strife and work. Just like through any other path.

But what attracts me to Islam the most. Contrary to common perception, is its lack of exclusivity. Meaning that it is one of the pathways to surrender and peace. And not the only path. Although it deems itself to possibly be the best path, there are however ‘many paths to Rome’. It’s path is a path well travelled. With it, it’s just that you don’t have to ‘reinvent the wheel’. You don’t have to create your own ‘taekwondo’. Taekwondo already exists. That is why it has been passed on from generation to generation. From one generation to the next. Both from a cultural perspective, but also from a spiritual one too. In particular for its spiritual benefit. For those who have the wisdom to reason to it.
